Hensley v. State Commission on Judicial Conduct

Docket number
22-1145
Date

Plaintiff justice of the peace claims that an ethics panel’s application of a judicial canon of impartiality to sanction her for refusing to officiate same-sex marriages on account of her Christian faith violated her free speech rights under the state constitution. A trial court dismissed plaintiff’s claims, and the intermediate court affirmed. An appeal is pending before the Texas Supreme Court.
