Columbus City School District v. State
Trial court found the state’s recently expanded EdChoice school voucher program violates the state constitution’s requirement of “a thorough and efficient system of common schools" by creating a system of uncommon private schools, taking away funding from the public schools, and giving religions or other sects control over state school funding. The court granted summary judgment for the defendants on a separate state equal protection claim. The court stayed the judgment and allowed the program to continue pending appeal.
