Held that defendants who are convicted but have been given reprieve from life-without-parole sentences because their crimes were committed as teenagers can still be required to pay restitution costs. The case involved a young man who was convicted of murder for a death that occurred during an armed robbery attempt when he the defendant was 17. His life-without-parole sentence was later converted to a prison term of several decades, but he was also required to pay the victim’s family about $15,000 in funeral expenses.
