State v. Engroff
The defendant was indicted in March 2022 on six counts related to three incidents of sexual abuse after the child victim disclosed the abuse in a video-recorded forensic interview. The defendant challenged the indictment, alleging, in part, that the admission of the video interview violated his rights under the Maine Confrontation Clause and Maine Due Process Clause. The court held that its admission did not violate the Maine Confrontation Clause or Due Process Clause because the victim testified at trial and was available for cross-examination.
