Commonwealth v. Lee
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court held that mandating a life sentence, without the possibility of parole, for “felony murder” — a legal doctrine that allows someone to be prosecuted for murder for any death that occurs during the commission of a separate felony, even if the defendant never meant to kill anyone — violates the Pennsylvania Constitution’s ban on “cruel” punishments
Luther v. Hoskins
The Missouri Supreme Court rejected voters' challenge to Missouri's new congressional district map, which the plaintiffs said ran afoul of state constitutional prohibitions on mid-decade redistricting. The court said the state constitution contained no express prohibition on mid-decade redistricting and that the map was a "valid exercise" of the "plenary legislative power to establish congressional districts."

Michigan Supreme Court upheld lifetime sexual offender registration against facial and as-applied cruel or unusual punishment challenge; and heard argument in challenges to lifetime electronic monitoring
Onondaga v. New York
New York Court of Appeals upheld law that would change many county and town elections to even years to align with state and federal contests, finding it does not violate state constitutional home rule or voting rights
State v. Sabra Danielson, State v. Simone Nelson
Washington Supreme Court held it does not violate equal protection as a wealth-based classification for a trial court to refund financial obligations paid in cash when a conviction is vacated but to deny reimbursement of community service labor performed in lieu of payment

Plaintiffs claimed that the state's six-week abortion ban violates the fundamental right of individual liberty, as well as equal protection and due process guarantees
Atencio v. State of New Mexico
Plaintiffs have sought review from the New Mexico Supreme Court of an appellate court decision that dismissed their claim under a state constitutional clause requiring the legislature to control pollution based on that court's interpretation that the clause does not create an individual right the judiciary can enforce or protect.
